Mo is right. The map I have is a 1:50,000 scale US topographical map. Elevation is in meters and the contours are 20 meters. It does have supplemental contours at 10 meters, however the only place I have found them are on large areas where the elevation change is very gradual, like the peninsula that Colco Beach was on.
Last night I reread the after action report and plotted the locations given for different companies on different days and times. I also reread Roger Ables book on the sequence of events from May 15 – 22. After doing that, I came to the conclusion that either the battalion reported the wrong locations for us, or we were not exactly where we thought we were. The after action report leaves a lot to be desired. It says nothing about the night we had on May 19th. I also remember another company calling in Spooky, I think on the night of the 17th. I remember seeing it from our NDP. There is nothing in the report about that. We thought we were on Hill 187 on May 18 & 19 and other reports put Bravo Company there. I’m getting a portion of the map blown up & I’ll plot times & dates & locations and send it to MO so he can post it. I told you I was anal about this.
