Delta Air Lines apologized Wednesday to a unit of soldiers who were charged more than $2,800 to check extra baggage when they returned from Afghanistan. Staff Sgts. Fred Hilliker and Robert O’Hair were upset that they had to pay $200 each on their flight Tuesday, even though they claimed that they were authorized to check up to four bags. Delta said it was three. Hilliker and O’Hair uploaded a YouTube video, which sparked widespread criticism against the airline. Delta has announced that it’s changing its policy to allow military personnel flying in coach to check up to four bags with no charge.
